Chow.com has a great little historical survey of some figures throughout the ages who have died at the hand of their food. A personal favorite: Francis Bacon who died from pneumonia contracted while stuffing snow into a chicken - inventing refrigeration! A death bed letter indicates he thought he had succeeded.
